The Fight for Freedom: How Chiropractors Can Use Their Success to Make a Greater Impact

April 01, 20254 min read

I just returned from an unforgettable experience in Guatemala, and I feel compelled to share it with you. This wasn’t just another trip—it was a mission, a calling, and a reminder of why I do what I do.

I had the honor of spending time with my good friend Pat Collins, a retired Green Beret and Special Forces veteran, who has dedicated his life to fighting one of the biggest and most overlooked crimes happening right under our noses—human trafficking. If you’ve been following my journey, you know I’m passionate about making an impact beyond just business success. And this trip opened my eyes to an even bigger mission.

A Mission Bigger Than Ourselves

Pat and his team operate in Central America, working with local police, military, and special forces to combat human trafficking. They don’t just kick down doors and rescue victims—they train and equip local units, repurposing military veterans to serve in a new capacity, using their skills to fight this evil. These are men and women who spent their lives in service to their country, and now they’re risking it all again to rescue innocent children.

I first learned about Pat’s work through my longtime patient, Dan Laguna, another retired Green Beret and pilot. When Dan introduced me to Pat, I immediately knew this was the organization I wanted to support. This wasn’t just charity—it was a movement, and I wanted to be a part of it.

The Rise in Lead Summit: Training, Leadership, and Impact

We just finished our Rise in Lead Summit with my Octo Circle—a powerful group of chiropractors and business owners dedicated to growing their influence and making an impact. Pat and his team hosted us at their training facility, where we experienced firsthand what it takes to operate in high-stakes situations. We were literally dangling from helicopters, running leadership drills, and seeing what real teamwork looks like in action.

But the most humbling part? We had the honor of treating Pat and his team of veterans. These are men who have endured decades of physical trauma, stress, and injuries from combat. Many of them have never received proper care. Seeing them break down emotionally and physically as we relieved years of tension was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do as chiropractors.

Why Chiropractors Must Step Up

For those of us who have built successful practices, we have a responsibility to do more. I’ve always said that true success isn’t about working in your business every day—it’s about building a real business that runs without you. A business that provides jobs, creates freedom, and allows you to dedicate yourself to bigger causes.

This trip reinforced that belief. When we hosted a fundraiser in Orlando, the money we raised went directly to training and equipping Pat’s team. That training led to the rescue of over 40 trafficked girls from a prison in Guatemala. Think about that—40 lives changed forever because of a community of business owners who decided to step up. That’s the kind of impact we can have when we build real businesses that generate abundance.

A Call to Action: How You Can Help

Doc Cory and Pat Collins

There’s so much work to be done, and I need your help. This isn’t just about writing a check—it’s about recognizing that we, as chiropractors and entrepreneurs, have the power to create massive change. If you want to be part of this movement, here’s what you can do:

  1. Build a Practice That Frees You – Stop being the bottleneck in your business. Learn how to scale, delegate, and create freedom so you can focus on bigger missions.

  2. Use Your Influence for Good – Whether it’s supporting this cause or another that speaks to you, use your platform and resources to make an impact.

  3. Donate to the Mission – Every dollar counts. Whether it’s $5, $10, or $100, it all goes toward training, rescue missions, and aftercare for survivors. Click the link below to support Pat and his team.

  4. Spread the Word – Awareness is the first step. Share this message with your network and let’s bring more light to this cause.

Final Thoughts: The Real Definition of Freedom

We talk a lot about financial freedom, time freedom, and business freedom. But this trip reminded me that true freedom is something most of us take for granted. There are children right now who don’t have the luxury of safety, of a future, of hope. And if we have the ability to change that—even in a small way—don’t we have a responsibility to do so?

I left Guatemala with a renewed sense of purpose. I’m more committed than ever to helping chiropractors build thriving businesses—not just for their own success, but so they can step up and be part of something greater. If you’re ready to take your business and your impact to the next level, let’s do it together.
