Patients don’t want to be sold. They want to be led by someone who understands what they’re going through and knows the way out. That means helping them connect their pain to purpose, their symptoms to their story.

Because here’s the thing: until they believe their health is worth the time, energy, and investment… they won’t commit. No matter how good your X-rays are.

From Technician to Influencer: How to Shift the Mindset

The turning point in my own practice was when I realized I wasn’t in the business of treatment—I was in the business of transformation.

And transformation starts with influence.

Not sleazy sales tactics. Not manipulation. I’m talking about real influence—the kind that helps patients come to their own conclusions, make powerful decisions, and finally stop “trying care” and start committing to health.

It’s a subtle but powerful mindset shift. Instead of convincing patients to say yes, you’re clearing the fog so they can see the road ahead.

The Mini ROF: Win the Case Before It Even Starts

One of the most effective tools we teach in The Data Driven Practice is what we call the Mini Report of Findings—and it happens before your full ROF.

Here’s how it works:

On Day 1, after the exam and consultation, you paint the picture. You show them what you found, explain the difference between relief care and restorative care, and—this is key—you ask them which path they’re ready to take.

This isn’t about pressure. It’s about partnership. The patient gets to choose their level of commitment based on their goals—not yours.

And when they choose restorative care, they’re telling you loud and clear:
“I’m ready to invest in my health.”

That changes everything. Because now, when you present your full treatment plan on Day 2, you’re not trying to sell anything. You’re simply showing them the steps to the outcome they already chose.

Powerful Presentations Aren’t About Scripts—They’re About Clarity

If there’s one thing I’ve learned after working with over 1,500 chiropractors, it’s this:

Clarity closes cases.

When you walk a patient through their diagnostic results using visuals like 3D Consult, when you explain how long tissue healing takes and what happens if they don’t commit now—suddenly the light turns on.

 They get it.
They see it.
They believe it.

And belief leads to action.

You’re no longer battling objections—you’re building momentum.

What About the Financial Conversation?

Here’s the part where most docs tighten up: the money talk.

But remember, when patients already see the value, the cost feels like a financial investment, not a withdrawal.

I always separate the time commitment from the financial investment. First, I get a clear yes on the protocol: “Are you committed to following this plan to restore your health?”

Then—and only then—do we talk about how they want to fund it.

And because every patient buys differently (some want the best deal, others just want the outcome), I tailor the financial options to fit their decision style. No pressure. No pitch. Just alignment.
